Blackberry's have always been the phone choice for the business user. Blackberry started life as a pager, at the start of the mobile phone era. Back in 1999 RIM (research in motion) started creating pagers and then moved to mobile phones, and in 2003 were one of the first companies to include push email on all mobile phones through its blackberry connect software.

Blackberry can be very proud of the BMM software on all their blackberry devices, it was one of the front runners in the instant messaging service, sending messages through an internet connection. It was very popular for business and pleasure, user were able to send multiple or individual messages.

Blackberry were the leading edge for mobile phones, but seemed to lose out when the smart phone generation came along, losing its major unique selling point when push email was available through all the major email services.
